We have a lot of exciting developments coming up in Glenbower Wood at the moment, and we’ve listed them below.

If you would like to support us, please help by donating to our Gofundme.  We need to raise €5,000 to help complete all these works, and ensure Glenbower remains a valuable resource for all our community.

Some of the works coming up:

Resurfacing of the roadway to the upper car park. €1,200 was required to cover our donation to this project, which has been kindly undertaken by Cork County Council

Development of the existing playground. This is being undertaken by a sub-committee, with the aid of Cork County Council, SECAD, and the Interconnector fund.

Resurfacing of the playground car park. This work is generously being completed by Cork County Council.

Management of Invasive Species.  A quick walk in the woods shows the extent of the spread of invasive species such as Rhododendron and Cherry Laurel.  With funding from the Interconnector project, and support from Wild Fern Ecology, we are working to remove large portions of these invasive species, giving native plants space to thrive once more.

You can see some videos about the project on our Youtube channel

Idir Dá Linn.  An arts project that has brought back stories and images of Glenbower Lake as it was. Click here for more information, funded from Creative Ireland.
