Glenbower Wood is an ancient native Irish woodland and has many native Irish trees. But it also consists of a number of introduced tree species from forestation over the centuries, namely Beech and Sycamore and numerous conifer species. The wood is still a commercial forest, managed by Coilte, but their long term goal is to remove all the plantation conifer species within the wood and replant with native Oak, Ash, Hazel and Holly.
